Lights 4 Tikes

Lights 4 Tikes is a Computerized Animated Christmas Light display in Sherburne, NY, put together by the Crowell Family and www.thispcneedshelp.com.

The lights are animated by computer and synchronized with music. The music can be heard by tuning your car radio to 107.7 FM when you are nearby.

Preparation for the display begins as soon as, well they are always ongoing year round. The animation sequence programming is done months ahead of time. This is truly a family project which requires a lot of careful planning.

If everything is turned on at once the display would draw more than 68 amps of power. The 7 foot tall star on the roof draws 5 amps alone, and the 21 foot tall “mega-tree” consists of 2,400 lights and can draw up to 30 amps in total, but to save on costs we never allow it to use more than 15 amps at any given time.

There are seven 3 foot tall artificial trees with 900 lights each. 300 White, 300 Red, and 300 Green.

We have a  7.5 foot tall Bethlehem Star on the Garage roof.

We have a 7 foot tall Grinch that only inflates during the Mr. Grinch song by Busta Rymes and Jim Carrie.

In total, the display has over 20,000 lights on 80 individually controlled circuits, and uses a little more than 4,200 feet of custom built extension cords. We have 5 circuits in a stand alone breaker panel dedicated to the show.

The display is scheduled to run from 5 to 10pm Sunday-Thursday and 5-10:30pm Friday and Saturday. The show runs anually from Thanksgiving night through the second Sunday night in January but can be turned on for special occasions after these times.
